In July of 2004 I signed up for a motorcycle ride which promised to be the "Adventure Of A Lifetime" It was to promote peer support for young breast cancer survivors as well as raise funds for peer support programs geared towards the needs of younger women living with breast cancer. Two years and 3 "Adventures of a lifetime" later I once again will be participating in this event which has become so near and dear to my heart.
It has been over three years now since my own breast cancer diagnosis at age 41. It was with the first Changing Gears ride that I actually began to move on and understand my "new" normal. It was also on that ride I felt for the first time in a long time that I wasn't alone. Opportunities such as this are so important for young women living with this disease as their needs are so very different and more often than not are overlooked and unmet.
My fundraising requirement for this year is 1200 dollars. These funds will support the Young Survival Coalition and the development of Amazon Heart's peer support projects.
I ask you once again this year to help me out. You know it's hard work this fundraising...........Riding my Harley up the coast with the best club I NEVER wanted to join. Showing the world what it means to really be alive.
It's a hard job, but somebody's got to do it.
Thanks in advance for your support.
