Registration Information for Amazon Heart Thunder

Registration Process

This adventure is open to all women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. We anticipate very high demand for this ride, and registration will be a two-part process. Those who wish to participate need to first complete the online application form.

All applications received by July 11, 2010 will be reviewed and considered for participation in this ride. Preference will be given to those who have never participated in an Amazon Heart adventure, those with motorcycle licences, and an effort will be made to ensure geographic diversity.

Official participants will be notified by July 19, 2010. The registration fee is due in full at the time of acceptance into the ride.

Dates

All participants must be in Los Angeles by 5pm Thursday, September 16 and remain with the group through the finish of the ride mid-afternoon on Saturday, September 25, 2010.

Costs

US$125 Registration fee (non-refundable) - due at time of registration.

US$600 Accommodation fee. Due in full August 13, 2010. Your accommodation payment includes 9 nights hotel/motel/hostel accommodation from Thursday, September 16 through the last night of Friday, September 24, 2010.

Participants will ride Harley-Davidson motorcycles loaned to Amazon Heart by the Harley-Davidson Motor Company at no additional cost. Petrol for the duration of the adventure is included.

All participants are responsible for getting themselves to the start of the adventure in Los Angeles and home from the finish in San Francisco.

Cancellation Policy

Amazon Heart understands that the unexpected can happen and prevent you from joining one of our adventures after you have registered and made your accommodation payment.  On our adventures we work with hotels and travel providers who do require non-refundable deposits, so in case of cancellation we are not always able to make refunds of your payments.  We strongly recommend you take out travel insurance to cover you for potential losses in this situation.

Our cancellation charges are as follows:

$125 Registration fee – non-refundable at any stage.

$600 Accommodation fee.  Full payment of this fee is due August 13. Cancellation will incur a 50% penalty fee up until August 27, 2010.  After August 27, cancellation will result in a full loss of accommodation payments.

Fundraising

To participate in Amazon Heart Thunder, there is a $1,500 minimum fundraising requirement, with a goal of $5,000. Fundraising support is provided by Amazon Heart.
