Grants in 2009

Amazon Heart Trust UK is currently seeking applications for grants that are available from the trust.

The trust has approximately £16000 in its gift in 2009. Grants to any one applicant are not likely to exceed £2000.

The following UK bodies are eligible to apply for grants:

• Charitable organisations
• Voluntary Groups
• Organisers of projects relevant to the criteria below

Grants will be awarded to assist work that supports and benefits UK women diagnosed with breast cancer through:

• peer support events and structures providing positive experiences and support
• financial assistance, education, practical advice or treatment
• advances the education of the public and the medical and caring professions in issues concerning the condition especially as it effects younger women.

The Trust’s emphasis is on addressing unmet need and therefore applications are encouraged from smaller user-led, grass-roots organisations and groups. It is anticipated grants will be awarded to meet specific, attributable costs in providing a service rather than as a general donation to the organisations. Where established charities or public bodies apply for grants these should be for costs associated with expanding the scope or quality of service provided rather than to maintain current service levels.
