Hello Friends,

I am sincerely honored to be a part of this powerful event beginning on September 15, 2007, when for ten days, women from all walks of life come together for a 1000 mile ride, united together - a force of strong women - women survivors - riding to pay tribute to those who have lost the battle to Breast Cancer, to those who are still fighting, and for those who don't yet know it, but will become one of many diagnosed with Breast Cancer.  We've raised money for the funding of peer support for women diagnosed with Breast Cancer.  Those that ride on September 15, 2007, are an inspirational representation of survival, emotional support, and are living testaments to others diagnosed with Breast Cancer that there is hope and support.

On July 21, 2004, at the age of 41, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer (Invasive Ductal Carcinoma).  I could honestly relate to the words in Lance Armstrong's book, It's not About the Bike, when he talked about fear.  Read something like:  I thought I knew what fear was until I heard my doctor say the words "you have Cancer."  My faith in God, the love and support of my family and friends, carried me through the most difficult time of my life.  The experience changed not only my life, but it also changed me.  I often reflect and try to grasp hold - to remember that fear - how much I suddenly really, no I mean really, appreciated life, the people around me, being healthy, and just the simple things.  I wanted to live!  I pray I never lose the perspective I had when I was faced with the unknown.  I always want to remember what's really important - because it was during that difficult time when I learned a life-changing lesson.  Being healthy and living life to the fullest was most important - everything else was secondary.  Things that I once thought were so important, were really not important at all.  Thank you for allowing me to share my story.

I need your help and I have three things to ask of you:  1) Please pass this letter along to all of your family members and your friends so we can continue to reach out, as far as possible, to raise funds for this cause; 2) please help me by contributing all that you can, to not only meet my fund-raising goal, but to hopefully exceed it; and 3) remind every woman that you love in your life to make sure they get their annual mammogram - without fail.  It could save their life.  Please give all that you can in an effort to help those living with Breast Cancer.  Thank you for your contribution and support.

In Friendship,

Yvette Killingham
