Amazon Heart Thunder
Australia 2006
Rider

Well what can one say other than I’m thrilled and amazed to be part of this years Amazon Heart Thunder Australia for 2006 www.amazonheartthunder.org

What a challenge, not only have I got to buy a bike to practice on but I have to learn to ride one. It’s been a few years since I’ve been on a bike, as a teenager I used to ride a Vespa Scooter to school. When we first got married our only mode of transport was a bike but then only as a passenger.

Anyway about me I am 55 years old and will be having a birthday next month so will actually be 56 for THE RIDE. I think I’ll refer to this as ‘THE RIDE OF MY LIFE’

I have to say that everyone around me thinks that I am quite mad for attempting this. However, having been through the cancer journey, come out the other end and survived for 17 years, I take this as part of my journey through life. To say its extending life’s experiences – yes most definitely.

I arrived in Australia from the UK in 1978 and have never looked back. This is a great country with some great people. I have two grown up children and have the total of 8 Grandchildren. I taught them well about populating this great country.

I work a very full time job as National Sales & Marketing Manager for Confident Care Products (CCP) a division of Australian Linen Supply, part of the Alsco Group of Companies. CCP sells patient care products to Hospitals and Nursing Homes.

I’m a member of Pendragons Abreast (although it looks like that will take a back seat while training for ‘THE RIDE OF MY LIFE’) and Wollondilly Cancer Support Group. A volunteer and fully trained speaker for the Cancer Council of NSW (CCNSW) and a member of WESRAN – Western Sydney Regional Advocacy Network – supported by CCNSW, along with being a Community Representative for SSWAHS.

And most definitely soon to be a member of Ulysses Club – Wollondilly. Proudly know as WOLLONDILLY WANDERERS.

Other interests are fishing, a member of Narellan Fishing Club and blues music, a regular visitor to Thredbo Blues Festival.

So as you can see I’m a pretty busy person with lots of varying interests.

My goal is to raise $5,000.00 so please support me in my fundraising efforts on ‘THE RIDE OF MY LIFE’ and dig deep to support Dragons Abreast who are the financial beneficiaries.
