I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2002 on the day we were moving to Coffs Harbour. Our Sea Change was becoming a nightmare. I had left family and friends behind and was terrified of what was to come. I decided not to let this take over my life. I had to be strong for everyone. With the help of my husband and Mum who moved in with us, I got through it.
I needed to be around other Women and joined a support group. We attended a conference and I discovered Dragons Abreast and met some wonderful women. Paddling gave me a challenge as I was not a sporting person. Chinese New Year blew me away. We are a unique group of women. I wanted more and learnt about Amazon Hearts. I read about the journey these women took and it inspired me to get off my butt and give back something to a group of children in need.
