I am incredibly excited to be selected to participate in this year’s Amazon Heart Odyssey to Montana!
This July, a small band of young women from around the world, including myself, will put aside our own battles with breast cancer to take up a new challenge – building a cultural studies center for the children of the Blackfeet Reservation in Montana.
To reach our goal, each volunteer must raise funds to pay for the building materials and will then travel to Montana to build the center itself.
Our project will support the students of De La Salle Blackfeet School, located on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in Northwestern Montana. The school serves a 100% Native American population in a very poor part of the United States. There are 59 students at the school, 91% of whom are eligible for the Federal Lunch Program. The school covers Grades 5 – 8, and has an all volunteer staff. Less than 5% of the school’s income comes from tuition with the rest dependant on the generosity of donors and supporters.
This adventure is also an incredible opportunity to meet other young breast cancer survivors from all over the world and to build a supportive community based on our shared experiences.
To make this incredible project a reality, I need your support for my fundraising efforts. My personal goal is to raise $5,000, which will not only pay for the construction of the center, but also to support breast cancer causes. I invite you to support me by clicking on the donation links below
