Hi. My name is Chrissy Audibert. I was initially diagnosed with breast cancer almost 10 years ago, at age 20, followed by treatment and then seven years of cancer-free bliss. The cancer unfortunately returned in 2002 in my brain, lungs, mediastinum, liver and bones, but I do not consider myself primarily a cancer patient. Primarily, I am a young, positive, caring, fun, adventuresome, life-loving individual who adores travel and meeting new and interesting people. Sure, getting breast cancer at such an early age, and then having it return and spread has certainly affected my life in great ways, but I am proud to be chugging along in various capacities.

I grew up with one mother, one father, one brother (two years older than me), one golden retriever, and one calico cat in the sleepy town of Harvard, MA. After attending the well-respected public school system for my entire schooling, and participating in the successful basketball and soccer teams, I spent my following four years at Williams College in the northwest corner of Massachusetts, where my breast cancer first found me in the middle of my junior year. After graduation of college, a good friend of mine and I took off to Costa Rica and backpacked around the country for a month, with little itinerary, but a good handle on the Spanish language. Two other trips of note include working as a trail crew leader for the Student Conservation Association for two summers: one in Woodstock, VT and the second on St. John in the US Virgin Islands National Park. These adventures were bookended by various professional pursuits of varying successes.

After my breast cancer returned, I decided that my professional career no longer made sense for me, and I have filled my life in various ways: becoming a Big Sister to a very needy Little Sister in the Greater Boston area; volunteering with Garden Therapy at a local nursing home; exploring my artistic side through various watercolor classes; taking many exercise walks in my town of Arlington, MA and surrounding areas; planting and tending a vegetable garden; becoming the best aunt possible to my newly four year-old nephew and almost two year-old niece; caring for my Prince Charming husband and precious kitty cat; and the list goes on...

I am thrilled to explore my passion for travel, for helping others, and for meeting new friends through the Amazon Heart Odyssey Montana this summer! I hope to gain new knowledge and energy through my survivor teammates and through the Blackfeet tribe. One goal of mine is to push myself physically while helping build the new bunkhouse for the De La Salle Blackfeet School, and another is to explore the amazing landscapes of northwestern Montana. I am excited to pursue these goals, and to create more to strive toward while I am participating in such a wonderful adventure!
