What if breast cancer is just the start of an incredible journey?
Since 2004 Amazon Heart has created life changing adventures for breast cancer survivors around the world. For the women taking part, our events are an amazing opportunity to share their experiences with other survivors and further their own journey of emotional and psychological healing after breast cancer. Each event also has a unique social impact, either through direct community service as part of the event, or raising funds for community projects. Most importantly, they are about coming together, celebrating living life fully and having a fantastic time!
Amazon Heart Expeditions are one week trekking adventures in incredible locations around the world. In 2006 a group of breast cancer survivors journeyed to New Zealand, where stunning wilderness provided the perfect setting for the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. That year New Zealand played host to another epic quest as a group of breast cancer survivors challenge themselves on a one week trek by foot and cycle across the highlands. Every step was a celebration of their journey through breast cancer, as well as a powerful inspiration to the thousands of other women diagnosed each year. In 2007, a group of breast cancer survivors took the strength from their experiences to trek through Canyon de Chelly in Arizona. The trek was not only a physical challenge as the group tackled desert stretches and scaled canyon walls, but was also a journey through time and history of the Navajo Nation with a local guide.
